The HP400 operates on the principle of compressive crushing. The rock is crushed between a stationary mantle bowl liner and a moving mantle mounted on an oscillating shaft. The unique “pivot-point” design of the HP crusher means the main shaft is supported at both the top and bottom, creating a large crushing force. As the eccentric assembly rotates, it causes the mantle to gyrate, creating a compression action that crushes the feed material against the concave liners. The setting (closed side setting) determines the final product size. The crusher’s hydraulic system is used for adjusting the crusher setting, clearing blockages, and providing overload protection.
